kimura Teens Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Martial Arts in Boston, Watertown, Taunton, Tewksbury
At Kimura BJJ, most teens typically train with our adult students in our Beginner classes. Because proficiency in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not predicated on size and strength, we find that teenagers who train with adults develop both their technique and maturity at an accelerated pace.
Of course younger teens (13-14 years old) always have the option of taking classes in the Kimura Kids program with our 9-12 year olds as they are still close enough in age to work together. It is not uncommon for some of our students in this age range to train in both groups on a regular basis, enjoying the benefits of both types of class structure.
Kimura BJJ's Nate Chandler, just 8 years old, competed on November 19th in The Good Fight 'Thanksgiving Throwdown' in Farmington, CT. Nate weighed in at 54 lbs and competed in 8 fights, winning 6 times in both Gi and No-Gi divisions. Impressively, the only person in Nate's weight class was a Green belt (two belt levels above yellow belt Nate), who Nate beat 4 times on his way to two gold medals.
