We are proud to announce that the 2nd Kimura BJJ Academy Tournament will be held on Saturday March 8th, 2008!  The last tournament was very successful with almost 50 students competing in all weight and age categories.  We're expecting this tournament to have even more participants and the level of our school to be significantly increased because of the competition.  The tournament will be held at the Watertown school located at 15 North Beacon St, Watertown MA, 02472.  The tournament will begin promptly at 3:00pm so students are asked to arrive and be prepared by 2:30pm.  We will have all cbjj (pdf) weight categories for white and blue belt ranks as well as a white belt absolute division and two blue belt absolute divisions: one for less than 175 lb and one for greater than 175 lb.  Weigh-ins will be all day Friday March 7th from 10am to 9pm at the Watertown school.  Registration fees will be $50 and will only be accepted until Thursday March 6th, there is absolutely no registration the day of the tournament!  There will be awards for the top 3 competitors in each weight/belt category as well as the absolute divisions.  This tournament will be for Kimura BJJ Academy students only, however look for us in the near future to put together cross academy tournaments as well!  All students are encouraged to participate but feel free to come support your teammates if you will not be competing!

Thank you to everyone for making our grand opening in Watertown such a success!  Our newly renovated home is incredibly spacious, clean, and well equipped.  It has already encouraged all of us to train harder and become an even tighter knit group.  The new schedule for classes has been updated (please click on the schedule link at the top of the website).  You'll notice far more classes at even more convenient times!  This is all in an effort to raise the quality of our school, instruction and students to yet another level.  Directions as well as schedules for the branch schools in Medford and South Boston will be posted in the very near future so keep checking our website!  In the mean while please use this google maps link to find our school in Watertown: 15 North Beacon St, Watertown MA, 02472

If you are thinking about joining our school, please drop by for a free introduction class that we've added to our schedule.  See everyone there!

Our deepest apologies to the current students, supporters, and new students waiting to try out Kimura BJJ!   Due to some extra unforeseen work in renovating the new school we have been forced to reschedule our grand opening to next Monday, February 18, 2008.  Instead of trying to rush and getting the work half done, we decided it was in the best interest of the school to make sure everything was perfect before we started classes.  We hope everyone will understand and agree that it is in best interest of the school and the students.  Branch school classes will continue as normal, we will also be holding temporary Saturday and Sunday classes at the Medford school (12:30pm) and Wednesday (7:00pm) class at the South Boston school.  Medford classes start at 8:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Roshankish TKD school located at 393 Main St.  South Boston classes start at 6:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Ultimate Self Defense school located at 416 West Broadway.  Once again our deepest apologies for the delay.  If there are any questions or comments please feel free to call or send us an email.  See you soon!

The mats are in and the painting and setup is almost complete!  We are looking to start classes at the new school on Monday, February 11, 2008.  The new and improved class schedule will be posted later this week.  Classes in Medford as well as South Boston will be held at their normal times.  We will also try to organize an extra practice or two in Medford or South Boston for this weekend to make sure everyone is keeping up their training for the upcoming tournaments.  More information will be posted here as it is available.

Look for us in February at our new home in Watertown! The new school is absolutely perfect!  We'll be located right in Watertown square (15 North Beacon St, Watertown MA, 02472), which means plenty of public transportation as well as on street parking.  We'll be substantially increasing the quality of our training area with over 2000 square feet of mat space, one of the biggest in Massachusetts, and our very own octagon for MMA training!  With the move will come a new schedule with even more class times.  If tyou were looking for classes in BJJ or MMA in the morning or afternoon instead of the evenings, this will be a great time for you to start.  Of course our normal evening classes as well as our branch schools in Medford and South Boston will not be affected.  Look for the new schedule, directions, pictures, and other information in the coming weeks right here on www.kimurabjj.com!

To celebrate our belt promotions as well as ring in the holiday season, team Kimura hosted it's first annual holiday party!  We celebrated our achievements in training and good friendships over good food, drinks, conversation, and plenty of laughter.  Training at Kimura means a lot more to us than just techniques and competition, we are a family of friends and are very happy to be able to share this festive time of year with each other.  Happy holidays!
