Master Jean Kleber also wanted to emphasize the importance of Kimura BJJ as team. Competitors may fight on their own, but they are nothing without those who train and stand beside them. As an example, Master Jean pointed to the Blue Welterweight division, in which two Kimura BJJ competitors reached the finals, Stanley Chen and Rodrigo Paulista. As teammates, who regularly train together in the Kimura gym, Chen and Paulista chose to share the division’s honors and medals instead of fighting against each other in the finals. It was a fine example of sportsmanship, honor, and respect. That is the Kimura way!
