Kimura wins 11 medals at NAGA World Championships

Kimura BJJ had a stellar weekend at the NAGA World Championships (April 5-6) in Newark, New Jersey. The tournament welcomed thousands of competitors, and is the largest and most prestigious BJJ contest of its kind in the region. Some 19 Kimura BJJ artists competed in the event, and all of them are to be congratulated for their efforts and courage. Master Jean Kleber said he was proud of the technique and determination exhibited by all. Several competitors merit special congratulations for winning medals by placing in the top three positions of their divisions. In gi competitions, Kimura took home a total of 11 medals!

Diego Ferroni 1 Gold (Adult, Purple, Cruiserweight), 1 Silver (" ", Middleweight)

Tho Vu 2 Gold Medals! (Masters, Blue, Flyweight & Featherweight)

Norberto Da Silva 1 Gold (Masters, Blue, Light Heavyweight)

Rodrigo Paulista 1 Gold/Silver (Adult, Blue, Welterweight)

Stanley Chen 1 Gold/Silver (Adult, Blue, Welterweight)

Robert Spezzafero 1 Silver (Masters, Blue, Heavyweight)

Jason Franham 1 Silver (Masters, Blue, Lightweight)

Andrew Ruzzi 1 Bronze (Adult, Blue, Cruiserweight)

Arthur Tzouros 1 Silver (Masters, White Light Heavyweight)

Master Jean Kleber also wanted to emphasize the importance of Kimura BJJ as team. Competitors may fight on their own, but they are nothing without those who train and stand beside them. As an example, Master Jean pointed to the Blue Welterweight division, in which two Kimura BJJ competitors reached the finals, Stanley Chen and Rodrigo Paulista. As teammates, who regularly train together in the Kimura gym, Chen and Paulista chose to share the division’s honors and medals instead of fighting against each other in the finals. It was a fine example of sportsmanship, honor, and respect. That is the Kimura way!
