1st UGA Tournament
The first United Grappling Association (UGA) Tournament took place last Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Tufts University. KIMURA Academy was once again team champion. KIMURA competed against great academies, including Renzo Gracie Academy, Alliance Academy, Barra Gracie Academy, Brazilian Top Team, and BTT Canada.
I’m very happy and proud because many of these academies have existed in the US for over 10 years, and KIMURA has only been around for three years. KIMURA entered the event with 32 athletes and won 19 medals. KIMURA grows each day with a lot of humbleness, respect and teamwork. We have won two Jiu-jtisu competitions and one VALE TUDO competition in the last 3 months – something that had never been accomplished before. I would like to congratulate everyone at UGA, as this tournament was very well organized, as well as congratulate all the academies that were present at this event. - Jean Kleber
